Saturn Peaches (LIMITED-SUMMER)

Summer is one of our favorite seasons in the produce section at Trader Joe’s, and that has a lot to do with our Saturn Peaches. Grown for us in Central California’s San Joaquin Valley, their flattened orb shape (reminiscent of Saturn’s rings, when the pit is removed) makes them easy to spot, while their sweet flavor and juicy nature make them easy to adore. (Fun fact: Saturn Peaches are lower in acid than a typical yellow peach, which makes them taste that much sweeter!)

When these Peaches are slightly soft and give off a sweet, floral aroma, they’re ripe and ready to eat—this may take a day or two on your counter, but it’s worth the wait! You can also add chunks of firm Saturn Peaches to green salads, or thread them on skewers and warm on the grill briefly over indirect heat for a superb seasonal dessert. (You’ll want to skip any attempts at pie prep, as their tender flesh doesn’t hold up when baked.)
