We’ve tasted a lot of granola over the years, and in that time, we’ve established a certain set of expectations. To that end, when we first tried Trader Joe’s Salted Almond Honey Granola, we definitely expected the Salt and the Almonds to work well together, and we certainly expected the Almonds and the Honey to complement one another. What really took us by surprise, though, was how much the Salt and the Honey synergized with each other! And when a granola can surprise you, you know you’ve got something special on your hands.

Indeed, Trader Joe’s Salted Almond Honey Granola is quite special, particularly in the way that its unique, sweet-salty interplay is captured within the context of crunchy Almonds and Granola clusters. It’s an epicurean interaction that adds something elegant to an everyday breakfast bowl with milk (or a non-dairy beverage), and provides a profound pop of flavor when layered into a parfait. With its sweet and semi-savory notes and nutty Almond overtones, it also brings a bit of oomph to an açai bowl, gives texture to a roasted sweet potato, and makes an intriguing alternative to croutons in a spinach salad. Frankly, we enjoy simply snacking on them by the handful—but that likely comes as no surprise.
