The Belgian supplier for our Trader Joe’s Pumpkin & Spice Brioche Style Liège Waffles follows authentic Liège tradition by adding egg to the dough, which produces a dense, brioche-like flavor. For this seasonal version, they’ve also added Pumpkin purée and seasonal Spices, including cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg. In addition to the warm, autumnal flavors, Pumpkin & Spice Liège Waffles are winsome for their smaller (than breakfast-style waffles) size, their roundish shape, and their uneven edges. The charm of these imperfections is further enhanced by a sprinkling of coarse Pearl Sugar, which provides an unexpected and delicate crunch.
