Made exclusively for us by a French bakery that specializes in Organic, artisanal bread, there are indeed two kinds of Chocolate—namely, dark Chocolate and cocoa powder—mixed into this Organic Batard’s traditional French bread dough, along with a bit of sugar. The dough is then shaped into an oblong loaf to achieve a balanced ratio of crust to crumb (that’s boulangerie-speak for the Batard’s soft interior) and baked until light golden brown. The finished Batard’s flavor hovers on the edge of sweet and savory, with a hot cocoa-hued dough that’s dotted with melt-in-your-mouth bits of rich dark Chocolate. C’est magnifique!
