Imported to us from France, Trader Joe’s Garlic & Herb Butter Mussels are a quick and easy way to enjoy some of the finest fare the sea has to offer, and all for a price that’s a truly unbeatable value. Each package contains a dozen, fully-cooked Mussels on the half shell, which have been smothered in a rich, full-flavored, and alluringly aromatic sauce made with Butter, parsley, breadcrumbs, shallots, and plenty of Garlic. From frozen, they only take a few minutes in the microwave (or a little longer in a conventional oven) before they’re ready to serve as an appetizer at a holiday party, a side dish at a cozy winter seafood boil, or the protein in any number of pasta dishes or other entrées. Amazing!

Together, the naturally sweet and briny flavor and tooth-tender texture of the Mussels play perfectly off the Garlic, Herbs, and Butter. Truly, you’ll want to enjoy them with some kind of carb that lets you soak up that Butter sauce—we even find that just serving them with hunks of crusty bread is a great way to go. And we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention how well these phenomenally flavorful Mussels pair with a crisp, mineral-y white wine—something like The Pass Marlborough Sauvingon Blanc will really let those flavors sing.
