100% Honeycrisp Apple Cider Unfiltered (LIMITED)

Even apples have ancestors. Many of the apples we enjoy today bear little-to-no resemblance to the varieties enjoyed by our apple-eating ancestors in centuries past. Throughout the ages, apples have been transformed through hybridization—both deliberate and naturally occurring—transformations that result in new varieties of apples. One particularly popular variety in this vein is the Honeycrisp, developed by botanists at the University of Minnesota. This hyper-popular hybrid traces its own ancestry to the Honeygold, MacIntosh, Jersey Black, and Macoun varieties, and with such a proud pedigree behind it, we determined a few years ago that this admirable apple deserves its own cider in the form of Trader Joe’s 100% Honeycrisp Apple Cider. 
 
This limited edition Cider is unfiltered, made with freshly-pressed Honeycrisp apples grown in the state of Washington. Because it’s not filtered, it looks and tastes like cider you’d press yourself at a pick-your-own-apples orchard. Ours is pasteurized for safety – it will keep unopened in your pantry for about six months; once you open it, it will last 7-10 days in the fridge. In reality, it won’t last very long at all­—once you take a sip of this sweet-tart cider, you’ll be hard-pressed to resist another. And another. And another...
